About our Trainers

Pablo Mejia

Elite Trainer

(337) 319-3641

Pablo Mejia has been involved in basketball as a player and developer for over 40 years. He is a 3rd Degree Blackbelt in American Shotokan. The discipline and martial arts philosophy Pablo has learned is applied in developing and training his basketball players. The belt system that martial arts uses to show progressions daily is applied to this basketball training program.

Each day training and developing occurs, there is an expectation of always getting better.  He is able to inspire his players to be their best.

Pablo started his basketball career as a player at St. Michaels in Crowley, LA, played at St. Thomas More High School and AAU basketball teams. While at STM, he excelled as a player under Head Coach Danny Broussard’s guidance and development. He was a 3 year varsity player, 2 year starter, career 40% three point shooter and holds the record for the most three point field goals made in one game (8). He also was awarded several individual awards.  After high school, Pablo continued his basketball career in college at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, LA.

Pablo has been training and developing players since his son Milan was 4 years old and has worked with hundreds of players young and old. His strength as a developer is to identify mistakes and to correct the player’s jump shot. Once identified, the players will follow a daily progression with the correct mechanics. Review, practice and focused training will provide the consistency the player will need to carryover to game time.

With Ragin Hoops and Pablo Mejia together, the Lafayette area will benefit immensely from the state of the art facility, new age basketball equipment and instruction to make those who train under Ragin Hoops become the very best basketball version of oneself.

Elite Trainer

(337) 412-7370

Michael started his basketball career as a player at Fatima in Lafayette, LA, played at St. Thomas More High School and multiple AAU basketball teams. While at STM, he excelled as a player under Head Coach Danny Broussard’s guidance and development. He was a 3 year varsity player, 2 year starter, team captain, defensive specialist, and State Champion. He also was awarded several individual awards and all tournament teams. After high school, Michael began Coaching at Fatima for one season before becoming the current Head Coach for the St. Thomas More Freshman basketball team for the last 8 seasons.

His strength as a trainer is to develop ball handling and footwork, as well as improve a players basketball IQ that will be able to translate to games. The ability for a player to get by a defender off the dribble, or in the post with skilled footwork, and not turn the ball over in games is a crucial skill that is invaluable to a team and coaches. Basketball is a game of skill and training with Michael a player will not only get more skilled, but learn to think the game to out smart the opposition.

Michael has been training kids for the past 9 years, sharing his keys to success on and off the court. Michael has a lot to offer in developing the overall player in not only their skills but also in thinking and learning the game.

Pablo has worked with and helped some of the top players in the area reach their goals of playing college basketball.

Pablo goes above and beyond to help out his students. My son has played on multiple top AAU teams that without the help and guidance of Pablo he probably would never have had these opportunities.

Pablo’s training goes far beyond basketball. Not only has he helped my son become a better shooter, quicker, stronger and a more confident player, but he really cares about his students, and wants to see them succeed on and of the court.
